Trotters Stop celebrates Easter with hat parade and craft exhibition

After two years of pandemic restrictions, the Trotters Stop pre and primary school was finally able to celebrate Easter yesterday with a grand hat parade and craft exhibition, bringing parents and guardians of more than 250 students together at its premises in Ile du Port on Mahe.

The long-awaited anticipation and excitement for this impressive annual event was palpable, as each class donned their pieces of art in colourful hats and headwear in a musical parade around the school grounds. As they did so, they sang and danced to the popular children鈥檚 songs 鈥楤unny hop鈥 and 鈥榃e are marching鈥 on a perfectly sunny and bright island day. Their show was met with rounds of applause from happy parents and guardians from across the country.

Trotters Stop pre and primary school head Poonam Verma said: 鈥淚 was very keen to hold this event this year 鈥 we sometimes take for granted the importance of our schools in protecting and strengthening the hopes and happiness of young people. It has been a tough few years for us all, having faced the challenges of the pandemic and all the uncertainties it brought with it. Our children have felt it too and we have a responsibility towards their wellbeing in all its forms.

鈥淭rotters Stop is not just a place to learn, but also to socialise and escape from difficult situations. We have the potential to build well-educated citizens ready to take on responsibilities as contributing community members. By working together, schools, families, and communities can prepare for a more promising future for us all.

鈥淲e work hand in hand with our parents to maximise their children鈥檚 development and potential. We are proud of their contributions to yet another successful event and of course of our teachers and staff who are integral to our every success.鈥
