Mrs Chetty
The Ministry of Education and Human Resource Development has sent the following tribute following the passing on Sunday February 16, 2020 of former teacher Anne Chantale Chetty:
鈥淢rs Chetty had her primary education at St Mary鈥檚 School, Anse Boileau from 1952 to 1958. She then joined the Secondary Modern School at Mont Fleuri where she completed Form 3 in 1962.
鈥淢rs Chetty started her teaching career on February 15, 1980, when she was appointed teacher in the then Ministry of Education and Information. She was posted at the Regina Mundi Convent as a sewing teacher.
鈥淚n January 1981 she was transferred to the School for Home Craft Course as a Needle Craft Teacher.
鈥淚n January 1982, Mrs Chetty was transferred to Mont Fleuri School where she taught sewing, needle craft and Family Life Education.
鈥淎s part of her professional development, Mrs Chetty followed training at the Seychelles Polytechnic from January 1988 to March 1989 where she obtained a Seychelles Vocational Education Certificate.
鈥淪he remained a teacher at Mont Fleuri Primary School until her retirement from the service in December 2007.
鈥淭hose who have worked with Mrs Chetty would remember her as a devoted and reliable person. She was well respected by her working colleagues, students, parents and the community. She made sure that tasks assigned to her were accomplished with perfection. To her colleagues, she was helpful and cooperative. She was tactful in her ways. She took her work at heart and was rather enthusiastic in trying out things and seeking help to improve when necessary.
鈥淭o her students, she was a loving and caring teacher who had her students at heart. She made sure that those who had chosen to join her sewing class, girls as well as boys, would come out with good sewing skills.
鈥淎t the end of the year, Mrs Chetty worked tirelessly mounting the annual school exhibition, to showcase the work and talents of her students. Parents would come in numbers, eagerly to view and appreciate the sewing and needle craft work of their children, who had the privilege to be inspired and taught by a skillful and creative teacher.
鈥淭hank you Mrs Chetty for your dedication. Adieu. Till we meet again.鈥
