ºÃÉ«TV Assembly takes more control of its parliamentary broadcasting

The ºÃÉ«TV Assembly has started to take more control of its own parliamentary broadcasting.

Speaker Nicholas Prea had the honour of cutting the ribbon to officially launch the Media Operations and Broadcasting Unit of the ºÃÉ«TV Assembly yesterday morning in the presence of the Clerk, Tania Isaac, and other members of management of the secretariat.

This is a momentous occasion for the ºÃÉ«TV Assembly and another milestone for the 6th Assembly. The final transition from SBC to the ºÃÉ«TV Assembly will be completed in the months to come with the ºÃÉ«TV Assembly having full control of the broadcasting of live debates and production of programmes for the institution. The Seychelles Broadcasting Corporation has been instrumental at every step of this process and will remain a close partner to the ºÃÉ«TV Assembly.

The Covid-19 pandemic has prompted the ºÃÉ«TV Assembly to change several of its usual procedures and this new unit is in line with the theme of the International Day of Parliamentarism which took place last month under the theme ‘Parliaments in a time of pandemic’. It’s an opportune time to bring the ºÃÉ«TV Assembly to the people and help in the prevention of the spread of the Covid-19 pandemic.

The accompanying photos show some highlights of the launch ceremony.
